Fire Prevention Open House

Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue is working to educate the public about ways to prevent fires from starting – with Fire Prevention Week. There will also be a Fire Prevention Open “”House event at the station along South Main Street from 4:30pm-6:30pm tonight. They are teaming with the National Fire Protection Association to promote the theme of “Look. Listen. Learn. Be aware. First can happen anywhere.”

The idea encourages the public to take a look around their homes to identify potential fire hazards and take care of them – as well as learning multiple ways out of any room you may become trapped in. The NFPA reports that on average in the US, fire departments respond to over 358,000 home structure fires every year, with over 12,000 injuries and 2,500 civilian deaths.
