Fire Prevention Week Proclamation

The Fond du Lac City Council this week honored the City’s Fire and Rescue Department with a proclamation declaring October 9th through the 15th as Fire Prevention Week. This year’s theme is “Don’t Wait-Check the Date! Replace Smoke Alarms Every 10 Years” Division Chief Troy Haase says the department took that advice to heart recently teaming up with the Professional Firefighters of Wisconsin and the Red Cross to distribute smoke detectors to a number of families that needed them. He says they put up new smoke detectors in about 12 homes where the detectors were over 10 years old. As part of Fire Prevention Week the fire department will hold an open house at Fire Station #1 on South Main Street from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, October 11th.
