Fire Risks High Across Wisconsin

The National Weather Service and DNR issued a Red Flag Warning on Sunday, which was the busiest fire day of the year so far. The state saw 43 wildfires on Sunday and more could happen if dry, windy conditions continue. Most of the state – including our listening area – continues to be under high or very high fire danger warnings. Red Flag Warnings are issued when a variety of weather factors like warm temperatures, low humidity, high winds, and dry fuels are all happening at the same time. The DNR has set burning restrictions, and has suspended burning permits until conditions improve.
