Fitzgerald Considering Possible Run for Congress

State Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he is
considering a run for congress, after longtime U.S. Representative Jim
Sensenbrenner announced Wednesday he would not seek a 22nd term
serving the fifth Congressional District. “Everyone knows that D.C. is a mess,
and in need of more Wisconsin-style common sense,” Fitzgerald said in a
statement. “President Trump needs strong allies to fix it, and in the coming
days, I’ll seriously weigh a run for Congress with my family and my team.”
Fitzgerald, a Republican from Juneau, represents Senate District 13, which
covers much of Dodge County and portions of Jefferson County and Dane County. Former
State Senator Leah Vukmir also said Thursday that she is “strongly considering”
a run for the congressional seat.
