Fond du Lac Man Arrested For 5th OWI

A 47-year old Fond du Lac man has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Fond du Lac Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 5th offense.

The Fond du Lac Sheriff’s Department requested the State Patrol respond to the scene of a crash on Kinker Rd west of highway 45 for a vehicle that struck a piece Fond du Lac Highway Department
equipment.

A highway crew worker had jumped off the piece of machinery just before it was struck by the suspect vehicle.

Prior to law enforcement arriving on the scene, the driver of the vehicle left the scene on foot but was located by witnesses nearby. When being interviewed by State Patrol personnel, the man admitted to being the driver in the crash.

The man was transported to a local hospital, where a Trooper administered standardized field sobriety tests. Based on the investigation, the Trooper arrested the man for Operating a Motor
Vehicle While Under the Influence (5th Offense). The Fond du Lac man was out on bond for a previous Operating While Under the Influence.

Other charges may be referred pending the outcome of the crash investigation.
