Fond du Lac Man Charged With Threatening To “Shoot Up A School”

A 66-year-old Fond du Lac man has been charged with making terrorist threats with the use of a dangerous weapon as well as two misdemeanor violations.

Darrell Scott made his initial appearance in a Fond du Lac County court room Thursday, April 6, 2023, for an incident that occurred Monday in Fond du Lac County where he threatened to buy an assault rifle to shoot up a school.

The comments came during a traffic stop where Scott was also arrested for his 3rd operating while intoxicated charge.

Scott told the officer that he thinks about shooting up a school daily, but no specific schools were mentioned as a target.

After the court appearance, Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney stated “Anyone that threatens to commit a school shooting and threaten the lives of students and educators will be aggressively prosecuted in our community.”

Scott was also charged with possession of THC during the traffic stop He faces a maximum sentence of 9 years in prison for the three charges. Cash bond was set at $1 million dollars.
