Fondue The Star Of Fondue Fest

The spotlight will fall on Moraine Park Technical College’s culinary arts program during Fondue Fest on Saturday, September 9th. That is because students will be making the cheese and chocolate fondue used during the festival in downtown Fond du Lac. James Simmers is culinary arts instructor at Moraine Park. He says the school makes the fondue and the bread that is dipped in it. Grande Cheese will be donating the cheese and imported Belgian chocolate is used for the chocolate fondue. Simmers says people tend to favor the cheese fondue. Three thousand portions were served last year. He says cheese was favored by about a two to one margin. Moraine Park President Bonnie Baerwald says the proceeds they make from the sale of the fondue benefits their culinary arts club. She says club members go to regional and even international activities and events so the money helps cover their personal costs. In addition to the fondue, there will be music, kids’ activities, a classic car show and more during Fondue Fest.
