Fondy 100 Gives

An effort called Fondy 100 Gives will give people a chance to give back to the community four times a year. Fond du Lac Family YMCA Executive Director and CEO Greg Giles came up with the concept. He says not everyone can afford to give a $10,000 contribution to better the community, but 100 people giving $100 a meeting is possible. There would be four meetings a year.  During the meetings three community projects would be presented by aspiring representatives from the local non-profit community. The projects would be voted on “survivor-style” with tokens placed in bowls. The best idea would receive $7,500 with the remaining $2,500 going to build up the Fondy 100 Gives endowment fund through the Fond du Lac Area Foundation. Foundation Executive Director Sandi Roehrig says the proposed projects simply have to better the community. She says the projects have to provide some positive immediate impact in the community, which could be a whole variety of things. The first meeting will be at Grande Cheese in Fond du Lac from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18th. For more information you can go to the Foundation’s website or the Fondy 100 Gives Facebook page.
