Fondy Grinds Out Win over SPASH

The Fond
du Lac
football team rallied from 11 points down late in the 3rd
quarter to pick up a 29-25 win over Stevens
Point
(2-1, 1-1) on Friday night at Fruth Field.  The 4th ranked Cardinals fell
behind 10-0 in the 1st quarter on a field goal and Beau Rosenthal 5
yard TD run.  Fondy rallied to take a
14-10 lead at the half on an 11-yard TD run by Reggie Hernandez and a four yard
run by Justin Maratik.  Those touchdowns
were set up by 67 and 64 yard runs by QB Quinn Woelfel.  SPASH ripped off the 1st 15 points
of the 2nd half building a 25-14 lead with 1:06 left in the 3rd
quarter.  Fondy cut that lead to 25-22
when Justin Maratik took a screen pass 50 yards for a score with :07 left in
the 3rd quarter.  Woelfel put Fond du Lac on top with
4:53 left in the 4th quarter on a spectacular seven yard run.  Woelfel finished with 158 yards and a
touchdown on just 8 carries.  Justin
Maratik ran 26 times for 61 yards and a TD to go along with his TD catch.  Fond
du Lac
turned it over five times in the game.  The Cardinal defense forced two late turnovers
to secure the victory.  Fondy (3-0, 2-0)
will travel to Neenah.  You’ll hear it on KFIZ.
