Fondy HS Student Wins Congressional Art Competition

Congressman Glenn Grothman announced the 2015 Congressional Art Competition winner during an open house last Monday evening at the American Legion in Fond du Lac. Over 150 Wisconsinites attended the open house to speak with the Congressman and get a glimpse of the 35 artwork submissions from students around the district. Katelyn Lavernz of Fond du Lac High School took first place.  “I was proud to announce Katelyn as the winner of the art competition, I commend her talent and hard work,” said Congressman Grothman. “I look forward to seeing Katelyn’s art displayed in the Capitol every day over the next year. Every one of the pieces of artwork submitted was outstanding and I wish each student who participated the best in their future endeavors.”

1st Place: Katelyn Lavernz, Fond du Lac High School

2nd Place: Emily Vall, Kohler High School

 

3rd Place: Emma Kost, Kiel High School

 

Honorable Mention: Molly Schneider, Fond du Lac High School

 

Each year, members of Congress invite students throughout their district to participate in the nationwide Congressional Art Competition to recognize and encourage artistic creativity among high school students.
