Fondy Upset Bid Falls Short

#1 ranked Kaukauna held on to beat the Fond du Lac boys basketball team 54-51 on Tuesday night at the Acuity Fieldhouse.   Fond du Lactrailed by 11 at the half but caught the Ghosts to tie it at 41 on a Drew Joregensen three-pointer with 5:56 left in the game.  Out of a timeout Kaukauna sophomore Adam Smith buried a baseline three and Fondy couldn’t pull even the rest of the way.  Freshman Jordan McCabe hit a pair of free throws with 4.0 left to help Kaukauna to the win.  Fondy’s Brian Luteyn scored 19 of his game high 23 in the 2nd half.   Jake Walgenbach added 8 and Caleb Goldstein 7.  Carter Belling had 13, McCabe 10, and Smith 10 to pace Kaukauna 9.   Fond du Lac will travel to Appleton East on Thursday night.   You’ll hear that game on News-Talk 1450 KFIZ.  Coverage begins at 7:05pm with the Tim Cruz Agency American Family Insurance Pregame Show.
