Food For Freedom Wrap Up

A valiant effort to break a world record for the most food collected for a food drive fell well short of the record during the attempt at the Fond du Lac High School last weekend. Still the 130,311 pounds will go a long way to help out food pantries in five counties including Fond du Lac, Brown, Outagamie, Sheboygan and Winnebago. High School Junior Danny Loomans and other students organized the effort to best the record of nearly 559,000 pounds in the Guinness Book of World Records. Danny says they were overwhelmed by the generosity of all of those who gave. He says his senior year he will concentrate on applying for colleges rather than breaking records. He says it was a worthwhile effort and he’d like to write a book about the experience. An army of volunteers helped out during the 24 hours the food was collected at the high school.
