Former Ripon Man Found Not Guilty Of Sexual Assault Charges

A Fond du Lac County jury spent a little over an hour deliberating Thursday morning before finding a 53-year-old Oshkosh man not guilty of child sexual assault charges. Christopher Ziemer was accused of having sex with children when he lived in Ripon in the 1990s. His lawyer, Dan Kaminsky, believes the charges shouldn’t have been brought against his client. He says it has shattered his client’s life. He says people sometimes are wrongly charged and just because somebody is charged and you read about it in the paper doesn’t mean you are getting the full story or that it is true. He says investigators were dealing with so-called repressed memories and the investigation wasn’t launched until 2011. He says three years later after the District Attorney’s Office held a John Doe hearing the investigation moved forward and eventually charges were brought. Kaminsky says the claims were suspicious. The jury found Ziemer not guilty of five charges and a sixth was dismissed.
