Fourth Ambulance Teams Starts Training In Fond du Lac

A little bit of history was made Monday(1/10/2022) as Fond du Lac Fire Rescue welcomed its largest class of recruits ever.

A total of seven new recruits began their first day on what will be the fourth ambulance team in the city.

Six of the recruits are a byproduct of the referendum that city residents voted to approve last spring. The seventh position was created following a recent retirement.

The number of ambulance calls in the city continue to rise, forcing the need for the additional ambulance, and eliminating the use of a fire truck being used as an ambulance.

According to Fire Chief Peter O’Leary, the team will be in training for a few months, with a goal of having them fully operational some time this summer.
