Fox River Accident Takes Life Of Woman In Green Lake County

The Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate an incident that occurred Saturday afternoon on the Fox River. The Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at 12:30 p.m. Saturday (1-2-2021) reporting a 35 year old female who had been outdoors with her 2 dogs near the Fox River off of Huckleberry Road. The caller said she couldn’t locate the missing female or her dogs.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the female’s hat was located on the ice at the edge of the river near where she had been painting an outdoor scene. Deputy staff and
emergency responding units, including a Hovercraft, Drone, rescue
boats, all terrain vehicles and rescue divers responded to the scene. A
search for the female began. The rescue efforts were unsuccessful, and
the female was located in the river downstream approximately
3/4 mile from where the incident began at approximately 2:30pm. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

One of the dogs was rescued by the caller but the other was not recovered.
Assistance at the scene was provided by fire/rescue units from Princeton,
Berlin, Green Lake, and Markesan. Berlin EMS units, Drone units
from Marquette and Green Lake County Sheriff’s Offices responded to
the scene as well. The incident remains under investigation by the
Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
