Full Log of Sexual Assault Kits to be Tested

Attorney General Brad Schimel says a statewide effort to test a backlog of sexual assault kits is well on it’s way to being completed. Wisconsin’s Sexual Assault Kit Initiative pulled decades worth of previously unsubmitted kits held by local law enforcement agencies and hospitals – and has now finished inventorying the kits. All of those designated for testing have been submitted to contracted labs. Testing is complete on 1,884 kits – with 2,271 currently being tested. Schimel expects all of the testing to be done by the end of the year.
