Funding Approved For New Youth Prison In WI

The state Assembly has approved funding to replace Wisconsin’s troubled youth prison.

The 42 million dollars towards a replacement for the Lincoln Hills/Copper Lake youth prison will still need approval by the Republican-controlled Joint Finance Committee.

The bill also requires the Department of Administration to approve a plan for a new facility in Milwaukee County if okayed by local officials. The legislation also requires the Lincoln County prison to remain open to house adult offenders.
