Garden Walk Success Helps Support Treffert Center

Beautiful weather prevailed on July 10 as garden enthusiasts enjoyed the beauty of six local gardens, ultimately helping to raise money to support the Treffert Center, offering diagnosis and treatment of autism, behavior and communication disorders.

Nearly 600 people admired the handiwork and loving care given to showcased gardens during the Agnesian HealthCare Foundation 2016 Garden Walk & Art Fair. Thanks to community support and generous garden hosts, the garden walk had another successful year generating more than $11,100 in net proceeds.

This year’s garden properties were Don & Mary Schneider, N8025 Church Road, Malone; Joe and Katie Ramirez, W5185 Kennedy Drive, Fond du Lac; Rick & Jayne Immel, W3179 4th Street Road, Fond du Lac; Aaron & Jenni Habeck, N5504 Deneveu Lane, Fond du Lac; Cathy Draeger, 365 Maona Avenue, Fond du Lac; and Agnesian HealthCare Gardens Art Fair Location, 430 E. Division Street, Fond du Lac.

Stuart’s Landscaping & Garden Center and The Garten Factory were outstanding contributors, while Gallery & Frame Shop and Silica for Your Home were supporters.

“It’s been an exciting year as we have officially opened the doors of the Treffert Center, which celebrates the many advancements made by Dr. Darold Treffert, a world-renowned autism and savant syndrome expert,” says Holly Brenner, Agnesian HealthCare Foundation president. “We truly appreciate the time and dedication that our garden hosts have given preparing their gardens for so many others to enjoy. And, we are blessed with an energetic planning committee and many volunteers who help the day run so smoothly.”

The first garden walk was organized by the Agnesian HealthCare Volunteers in 1996 in celebration of St. Agnes Hospital’s centennial.

The 2016 garden walk was coordinated by committee members: Daine Baseley, Deb Doll, Mona Eiring, Karen Gruenewaldt, Jennifer Hawley, Ramona Huempfner, Julie Moyer, Michelle Ries, Jean Smith and Mary Zimmerman.

The 2017 Garden Walk is scheduled for Sunday, July 9.
