Gerritson Named Interim City Of FDL Fire Chief

Fond du Lac Fire Chief Peter O’Leary announced his retirement last week, with his last day scheduled for April 14, 2022.

The City of Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission met Thursday afternoon and announced that Assistant Chief Erick Gerritson will lead the department on an interim basis, while a national search for a replacement is found.

O’Leary had been head of Fond du Lac Fire Rescue for the past 13 years.

The last time a national search firm was hired, was to find a replacement for Police Chief. The city hired Baker Tilly at a cost of roughly $40,000, with Aaron Goldstein, who was the Assistant Chief at the time, tabbed as the new chief.

KFIZ News reached out to City Manager Joe Moore, who said “We’ll publish a request for proposal in the next week inviting executive search firms to compete for the opportunity to be the one selected by the PFC. I anticipate that the PFC will then select a firm by the end of this month.”
