Glo Top Team as Playoffs Begin

Wisconsin Glo at Top of GWBA Going into Playoffs
Oshkosh-It took two hard fought performances from the Wisconsin Glo this past weekend to come out
victorious over the Flint Monarchs improving to 7-1 on the year to remain on top of the GWBA standings.
On Saturday, Jessica Kelliher and Julie Wojta combined for all of the Glo’s 15 first quarter points. However, the
Monarchs still managed to lead 16-15 heading into the second quarter.
The two’s impact didn’t stop there. Wojta would fill the stat sheet and record a triple-double with her 22
points,12 rebounds, and 10 assists on the night. As for Kelliher, her impact was felt down low as she scored 29
points and grabbed 10 rebounds adding to her double-double tally for the season.
Kelliher spoke about their plan heading into the game and the team’s emphasis on “getting better looks within
the offense and trying to run our sets more… overall, everyone on our team did a good job of moving the ball
and finding open shots.”
The Glo took a 39-37 lead into half and looked to extend this out of the break. They did just that as they
pushed their lead to 11 with just under three minutes remaining in the quarter. The Glo continued to lead the
remainder of the way, securing their first win of the weekend 89-68 over the Monarchs.
Sunday’s action was a back-and-forth battle between the two teams in their final regular season meeting of the
year. The Monarchs seemed to take control early in the third quarter as they jumped out to an eight-point lead,
their largest of the afternoon. The Glo battled back and tie things up heading into the final quarter of action.
Sam Logic’s fadeaway jumper from the right wing that left just .5 seconds on the clock would go down as the
winning basket as it gave the Glo an 82-80 advantage. Logic’s winning bucket gave her 18 points on the
afternoon to go along with her 11 assists in what was an impressive performance.
Your next opportunity to watch the Glo is Sunday, July 17th at 3 p.m. in the Green vs Blue Glo Intersquad
scrimmage. Tickets and information are available at www.wiscoglo.com or the Oshkosh Arena box office.
