Good Chance Retlaw Hotel Will Remain A Hotel

Chances are good the Retlaw Hotel in downtown Fond du Lac will remain a hotel. Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation President Steve Jenkins says he’s aware of who the winning bidder is in the online auction. He says it’s a company that has a lot of experience in redeveloping historic hotel properties. He says they bring a lot of expertise to the table. Downtown Fond du Lac Partnership Executive Director Amy Hansen says there was a fear that it would no longer be a hotel. She says to have it as a hotel is important to the downtown. Jenkins says in addition to the FCEDC and DFP, the City, the Fond du Lac Area Convention and Visitors Bureau, and the Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts all worked towards getting the right developer. He says the hotel is an integral part of the downtown redevelopment. Since the hotel is in receivership the winning bid has to be approved by a judge. It will go before Fond du Lac County Judge Richard Nuss next Wednesday.
