Governor Prioritizes Education Funding In State Budget

Governor Scott Walker made education funding a priority for the state’s budget, but state legislators differ on the reason for that. Senator Dan Feyen of Fond du Lac believes that is a good thing and is looking forward to working on the budget. Feyen says the Governor made a lot of good points in his budget address. But State Senate Minority Leader Jennifer Shilling says after the cuts in K-12 public education and higher education over the years the Governor is patching things up. She believes the budget will look very different when it makes it to the Governor’s desk to be signed. State Representative Michael Schraa of Oshkosh says he hopes the fiscal analysis will support the Governor’s proposed increases in funding for education.
