Governor Proud Of Investment In Transportation

Governor Scott Walker says he’s proud of the state’s investment in transportation during his time as Governor. Walker told KFIZ news with the proposed funding for the next state budget about $3 billion will have been invested in transportation during each of his eight years in office. He says that’s a total of $24 billion and about $3 billion more than what was invested in transportation during Governor Doyle’s eight years in office. He says they are diverting money that would have gone to bigger projects to invest more in funding of local transportation projects. He says more is going in to local road and bridge aid than most jurisdictions have seen in the last 15 to 20 years and more is going into state highway rehabilitation than ever before. Governor Walker visited the Fond du Lac County Airport last week and also approved funding for a $1.9 million project at the Dodge County Airport and $650,000 in funding for a project at Sheboygan County Memorial Airport.
