Green Bay Alderman Wants City To Buy Struggling Mall

A least one member of the Green Bay Common Council wants the city to consider buying a struggling shopping mall.

The East Town Mall is listed for sale with a price tag of one-point-nine million dollars. Alder Brian Johnson has requested the city council to consider buying the property, with a discussion set for Tuesday’s meeting. The request would have to be reviewed in committee before the city council would take any action. Johnson says the mall property could be used for redevelopment, affordable housing, an east side library, or a storm water retention pond to ease flooding in the neighborhood.
