Greenfield Man Arrested Following High Speed Chase In FDL County

A reckless driving call to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department Saturday evening, July 16, 2022, quickly turned into a high speed pursuit reaching speeds of 100 mph.

The driver of a black pick-up truck was called in for reckless driving on Highway 151 north east of Fond du Lac, heading south. The driver was reported as crossing the centerline and almost crashing into oncoming traffic.

A Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop but the pick-up failed to stop and accelerated.

The chase turned south onto County Hwy. K and then north onto Fond du Lac Ave, briefly heading into the City of Fond du Lac before heading east on Rienzi Road back towards Highway 151.

The driver again turned south on 151 where speeds reached 100 mph. Deputies were able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device near County Highway V, deflating both passenger side tires.

The vehicle continued south on 151, exiting on Hickory Street  where the driver turned north, again towards the City of Fond du Lac.
A sheriff’s department officer used a “PIT” maneuver on the truck which caused the driver to lose control and enter the ditch south of Kohlman Road near Waste Management where the subject was taken into custody.

The 51-year-old man from Greenfield is being held in the Fond du Lac County jail and will be charged with fleeing/eluding and a pending 6th operating while intoxicated charge according to a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department press release.

One squad and the pick-up truck received minor damage in the chase and no injuries were reported.

The Wisconsin State Patrol assisted with the pursuit which covered a distance of 11 miles.
