Grothman Asks for Megellas to Receive Medal of Honor

Congressman Glenn Grothman has introduced legislation that would
give a Fond du Lac native the United States’ highest military honor. The bill authorizes
and requests President Trump to award James “Maggie” Megellas the Medal of
Honor for the courage he showed during the Battle of the Bulge. “More than 70
years ago, Maggie displayed a heroism in the face of one of World War Two’s
bloodiest battles that is deserving of our nation’s highest award.. He saved
countless lives and stopped the advance of enemy troops without thought of his
own life,” Grothman said. “I hope that my colleagues can come together in a
bipartisan manner to recognize that Mr. Megellas is a true American hero who
deserves to be awarded the Medal of Honor.”

Megellas is the most decorated solder from the 82nd
Airborne Division – receiving the Distinguished Service Cross and the Silver
Star. He currently lives in Colleyville, Texas.
