Growers Express Recalls Products over Listeria Concerns

The United States Food and Drug Administration along with
Growers Express Company have announced a recall of selected fresh vegetable
products that may potentially contaminated with Listeria. No illnesses have
been reported with the affected products, but the company is issuing the recall
in an abundance of caution. The recalled products originated at a facility in
Biddeford, Maine and include packaged varieties of butternut squash, cauliflower,
zucchini and a butternut squash-based veggie bowl. Most of the affected
products have a “best if used by” date of June 26th-June 29th,
2019. The only products that are part of this recall that impact Wisconsin consumers
are “Trader Joe’s” brand Butternut Squash Spirals and “Trader Joe’s” brand
Zucchini Spirals. 


The squash product were sold in 10.5 ounce packages with a “best
by” date of June 28
th, the Zucchini product were also sold in 10.5
ounce packages with a “best by” date of June 27
th. People who may
have these products in their homes are urged not to eat them and to throw them
out.
