Gubernatorial Candidates Release Fundraising Numbers

Incumbent Governor Scott Walker raised slightly more than Democratic challenger Tony Evers in August – but remains with a  much larger supply of cash in the final stretch of the campaign. Walker raised $2.3 million last month and had $4.2 million in the bank, according to a report released this week. Evers raised about $1.9 million – and had $1.6 million on hand.

A Marquette University Law School poll last week showed Evers leading Walker 49-percent to 44-perent. Both candidates released TV ads this week – Evers questioning whether Walker can be trusted in handling schools after past budget cuts, and Walker arguing Evers would raise taxes nearly across the board.
