Gunderson Named New Athletic Director

The Fond du Lac School District announced that Arik Gunderson was selected as the new Athletic Director for Fond du Lac High School starting in the 2022-23 school year.

Gunderson is currently the Assistant Principal at Sabish Middle School.
“I am looking forward to the opportunity to continue building quality
athletic programs for our student-athletes, families, and community,” said Gunderson. “Providing positive athletic experiences for our student-athletes will be at the forefront of everything that we do.”

“I am excited for Arik Gunderson to become the next Athletic Director at Fond du Lac High School,” said Dave Michalkiewicz, who will serve as Principal of Fond du Lac High School beginning on July 1. “Mr. Gunderson brings a wide variety of experiences during his time in our District, as an administrator, teacher, and coach. This experience will allow for him to transition into his new role quickly, and provide the necessary support structures for our student-athletes and athletic programs to be successful.”

Gunderson received a master’s degree in Education Administration from Concordia University Wisconsin. He earned a bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Business Education from the University of Wisconsin – Stout.

Gunderson began his educational career as a student teacher at North High School in Eau Claire. In 2011, Gunderson joined the Fond du Lac School District to teach marketing, business and information
technology classes at Woodworth Middle School. During that time, he pursued leadership roles through curriculum work and active participation in both Envision Greater Fond du Lac and Young Professionals of Fond du Lac.
