Habitat Chooses Family For Next Home

Habitat for Humanity of Fond du Lac County has announced the selection of their 2014 Partner Family.  Taylor and Sarah Schanilec and their children, Mason and Liliana, will be the recipients of the 25th Habitat home in Fond du Lac County, located at 141 Hamilton Place in Fond du Lac.  “Taylor and Sarah are examples, already assets in our community, hard workers, and are well deserving of a hand-up,” says Misty Winkelman, Director of the Teen Parents program with Badgerland Youth for Christ and a mentor for the couple.  The couple, together with family and friends, will contribute a minimum of 500 hours of “sweat equity” to the construction of their home.   “I was particularly excited to call Taylor and Sarah and give them the good news,” says Lori Thiel, Chair of Habitat’s Family Selection Committee.  “It was even more exciting to discover I called them on Taylor’s birthday.  It was a great gift for Taylor and his family.”  The official Groundbreaking Ceremony will take place at the site of their future home on Saturday, April 5th at 11:00 a.m. and the entire community is invited.

The Schanilec Family has been selected as Habitat’s next Partner Family.  Their home will be the 25th Habitat house in Fond du Lac County.  Pictured from L to R: Paul Osterholm, Habitat Executive Director, Taylor Schanilec holding Liliana, Sarah Schanilec holding Mason, and Megan Stahmann, Habitat Office Manager.
