Hearing Rescheduled For Former Waupun Police Officer

Barron County authorities have rescheduled a plea hearing for a former Waupun police officer who went on a crime spree a year ago this month. Forty-four-year-old Bradley Young of Brandon was originally scheduled to have the plea hearing this past Friday; instead it’s been scheduled for September 23rd.  He’s facing vehicle theft and fleeing an officer charges in that County.  Young is also facing charges in Burnett and Green Lake County for the spree that began with the attempted break-in of a Green Lake restaurant and vehicle theft. It’s alleged that he broke into grocery stores in Waupun, Berlin, and Markesan.  In the wake of his alleged crimes he resigned from the Waupun Police Department where he worked for 22 years achieving the rank of lieutenant.  He will also make an initial appearance in Waushara County in October for a burglary that occurred in October of 2011.
