Heavy Rain Falls Across the Fond du Lac Area Tuesday Night

Conditions are starting to dry out around Fond du Lac and
the surrounding areas after rounds of heavy rain caused flooding in the City of
Fond du Lac and other communities in the region. Several listeners reported
rainfall totals to us, and they ranged from four-and-a-half inches on the south
side of Fond du Lac, to some locally heavier totals as well – including five
inches near Whispering Springs Golf Course, five-and-a-quarter inches near Eden
and close to six inches near South Hills Golf Course and another six inch
report near the fairgrounds. Another listener reported seven inches just south
of the city, while another reported five inches in the Town of Armstrong in the
southeastern part of Fond du Lac County.

The Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center took numerous
calls of street flooding in and around the city Tuesday night, in addition to a
number of stalled vehicles due to the floodwaters. Standing water was also
reported on parts of Interstate 41 near Hickory Street overnight – which caused
lane closures for southbound traffic. A few roads in the city still had
standing water as of early this morning – with north Prairie Road and Pine Lake
Drive, in addition to the area of South Street near Oak Street being blocked
off due to high water.
