Heavy Rains Force Wastewater Bypass

Recent heavy rains last
week Tuesday and Wednesday forced the City of Fond du Lac to divert wastewater into nearby
storm sewer pipes at five locations. The wastewater was then sent into
nearby creeks, rivers and storm ponds.  It’s important to note while
the wastewater is untreated, it also was so heavily diluted that it did not
pose a threat to public health.  The bypassing occurred between 6:00 pm
and 9:35 pm on Wednesday. City staff also monitored complaints of standing
water in streets and residential yards and monitored the water levels of the Fond du Lac River and other water bodies. Per the requirements
of the City’s wastewater permit, the information has been reported to the area
DNR engineer.
