“Helping our Heroes” Raises Over $12,000 To Give To Local Medical Professionals

We’re just days away from Christmas, but over 600 medical professionals already received a Christmas present, thanks to local churches in the area. The program is called “Helping Our Heroes” and included 460 RNs and LPNs, 135 CNAs, and 14 Respiratory Therapists at St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac each received a gift that included a $20 gift certificate to local restaurants or businesses, and a handwritten note of appreciation from a local student, courtesy of local Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Churches in Fond du Lac.

Pastor James Borgwardt from Redeemer Lutheran, tells KFIZ they wanted to support the frontline workers at the hospital, and wanted to show their appreciation somehow.  Over $12,000 was raised to purchase gift certificates from local businesses, which were given to the workers.  Students at numerous grade schools and at WLA were eager to write personal notes of encouragement. The campaign involved the WELS congregations in and around Fond du Lac, with the help of Winnebago Lutheran Academy.
