Hicks Receives 7-Year Sentence

A Fond du Lac man accused of brutally pistol-whipping a woman in 2018 was sentenced Friday to 7 years in prison. A jury found 43-year old Desmond Hicks guilty of battery and being a felon in possession of a firearm. Hicks was involved in a domestic incident back in July 2018, where he beat a woman with a handgun.

A detective involved in the case made note that the victim was still carrying the imprint of the handgun’s magazine on her head, five weeks after the beating, along with a black eye and swollen lip. The criminal complaint says the victim told police she thought Hicks would kill her for reporting the abuse, and she came forward only after he was in police custody.
