High-Speed Chase Ends Up In Rollover And Arrest In FDL

A high-speed chase late Monday night results in an arrest. Just before 11:00 p.m., the FDL County Sheriff’s Department observed a vehicle heading southbound on Hickory St., traveling through a red light at Johnson St., at a high rate of speed.

The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the suspect vehicle, which continued southbound on Hickory St. The vehicle continued its path, failing to stop at stop signs on Hickory St. as well as at the red light at Military Rd. The vehicle then continued to travel at a high rate of speed as it approached Pioneer Rd., where it attempted to navigate through the roundabout at that location, striking the center of the roundabout.

The driver of the vehicle lost control and rolled several times, coming to rest on the grass to the southwest of this intersection. The driver of the vehicle, who was the only person in the vehicle,  immediately exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He was apprehended a short distance from the crash site. The pursuit lasted approximately 2 miles.

The driver is facing at least 12 charges associated with the pursuit, including OWI 3rd offense, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana and bail jumping. The driver also had a warrant for his arrest through the Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole. There were no injuries reported in the incident.
