Highway 23 Expansion Project to Enter Construction Phase

The Highway 23 Expansion Project between Fond du Lac and Plymouth is set to move into the construction phase. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation said in a news release late today (Tuesday) that the Federal Highway Administration and the DOT had received no claim against the expansion and that work may begin as early as May of this year in Sheboygan County. The project will reconstruct 19.1 miles of Highway 23 between US 151 in Fond du Lac County and County Highway P near Plymouth to a four-lane, on-alignment, divided highway. Several intersections will also be improved with the project.

The proposed construction schedule includes –

May 2019 – 2020: County Highway P in Sheboygan County to Division Road. Grading, structures and paving for the added lanes and intersections.

2020 and 2021: Division Road to Seven Hills Road in Fond du Lac County: Grading, structures and paving for the added lanes, intersections and the County Highway G interchange

2021-2022: Seven Hills Road to US 151 in Fond du Lac County. Grading, Structures and paving for added lanes, intersections. County Highway K interchange, County Highway UU Interchange, resurfacing existing lanes.

2022 – Seven Hills Road to County Highway P in Sheboygan County. – Resurfacing of existing lanes.
