Highway 23 Public Opinion Deadline Approaching

The approval process for the Highway 23 expansion project is moving along with a major deadline coming up next week. The DOT has been taking public opinions on the project and their plans over the past month – and are turning their heads towards filing for final federal approval.

Sarah Dowidat with Envision Greater Fond du Lac says “July 31st is the deadline for constituents of this area to submit public feedback on that project to the Wisconsin DOT, so just a few days left here in the month. So if you haven’t already sent in your feedback, we encourage you to do so. This is still very, very important in this process.”

Supporters hope the new environmental analysis will have safeguards that allow for construction to begin and to avoid any further legal issues. Environmental groups sued back in 2015 to block the expansion from being built.
