Highway 41 Pursuit in FDL County Leads To Arrest

A 27-year-old Menasha man is facing eluding, reckless and drunken driving charges for leading Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputies on a 22 mile chase that ended in Washington County early this morning. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say shortly after 3:30 a.m. they got a call about a car that was speeding on Highway 41 at Lone Elm Road driving south in the northbound lane. Deputies’ efforts to stop the vehicle didn’t work and the driver increased his speed up to 103 miles per hour forcing other drivers to take evasive action to avoid a head-on collision. A first attempt to use stop sticks at Highway 41 and Johnson Street in Fond du Lac was unsuccessful. A second set of stop sticks at Highway 41 south of Highway 28 in Washington County disabled the vehicle. The man was taken into custody. No one was injured, but a vehicle in Washington County side-swiped a guard rail trying to avoid him.
