Hobby Lobby Inks 10-Yr. Lease, One Other National Retailer Is Close

It’s never an easy time to fill an empty store front. It’s even more difficult to fill an empty “big box” retailer. Now try to do that during an unplanned pandemic. The great news is it’s happening. and it will happen in the former Shopko building on Johnson St. in Fond du Lac.

City of Fond du Lac Community Development Director Dyann Benson told City Council Wednesday night that Hobby Lobby has inked a 10-year lease to fill part of the empty space, and that one other national retailer is “close to signing as well, possibly in the next week or so.”

Benson also told Council that space in the area near Glacier Credit Union in the parking lot will also feature space that will hopefully be filled by a national food chain.

Benson declined to give specifics on either of the other potential partners, as the negotiations are on-going. Benson did say that Hobby Lobby would like to be operating at full strength by the end of 2021.
