Hospice Home Of Home Announces Expansion

The Agnesian HealthCare Foundation announced plans during their annual Charity Open Monday to expand the Hospice Home of Hope. Foundation Executive Director Rita Meidam says they plan to raise $2.5 million to add 7,327 square feet to the facility on County Highway K nearly doubling its size. Andy Land is the Director of Hospice and Palliative Care for Agnesian HealthCare. He says that will allow them to reduce the waiting lists they’ve had for the past few years. He says that will add 10 beds to the facility. He says the hard part will be finding volunteers for staffing those 10 extra beds. Currently they have 12 beds and they have about 100 volunteer shifts a week, but he says it’s definitely an exciting thing to offer. He says events like the Charity Open and generous donations help those who can’t afford care for terminal illness to stay even when they run out of financial resources. The expansion project will begin in the spring of 2016.
