HS Sports Recap 5/19

Softball:

WLA 7 Random Lake 1

Natalee Boelk pitched a masterful game giving up one run on four hits while striking out four and walking two.  The Vikings scored two runs in the bottom of the first and added another run in the fourth inning.  WLA then scored four runs with three outs in the fifth.  Leah Matthias struck out swinging but reached first on the passed ball.  A run scoring triple by Amber Johnson, followed by Kiara Shea single, a Maddie Loehr double, and an Alea Anhalt single brought in three more runs to seal the game.  Johnson, Loehr, and Abby Cole each had two hits to lead the Vikings.  A. Borchart had two hits for Random Lake.

NFDL 8 Howards Grove 1

Natalie Miller threw a complete game 1 hitter striking out 11 Howard’s Grove batters to pick up the win for the Orioles. Leading hitters for the Orioles were Lauren Stettbacher 3-3, Natalie Miller, Bree Rock, and Kaitlyn Retzlaff went 2-3. Kalista Ziemer and Bree Rock had 2 rbi each. Laura Heim had a triple for  Howard’s Groves only hit.

Leading hitters for Saint Mary Springs Gracie Konkol two hits and three RBIs, Tessa Gitter two RBIs, Ella Guelig two hits one being a double, Ireland Stoffel three hits one being a double, Jenna Dux two hits one being a double, and Nevaeh Galligan three hits on being a double.
Pitching for Saint Mary Springs Ella Guelig three innings, no hits, one base on balls, and five strikeouts. Gracie Konkol four innings, two hits, two base balls, and nine strikeouts.

Coach Haag:  “I am really happy for our girls.  They have worked hard and improved throughout the year.  They are very excited to bring the conference championship  back to WLA.  They are very worthy champions.”

Kiel 2 Sheboygan Falls 2

Coach Pritchard: “Sheboygan Falls is the best team we’ve played all year and we escaped with a tie because our team NEVER concedes.  Our team learned tonight what it takes to become a state championship quality team.   Abby Moore continued her high school career success at placing direct kicks into the net tonight to help us comeback to tie the match. During the entire match Sheboygan Falls doubled and even tripled teamed Taylor Schad but she still amazingly was able to score our final goal to seal the tie.”
Bryannah Remy made 17 outstanding saves tonight to keep us in the match.  Our defense was led by Katelyn Uselding and Elisheba Sippel grit and determination.  

Baseball:

Campbellsport 6 Springs 4

Jalen Gellings pitched 6-1/3 for the Cougars, and Mitch McCarty had a 2RBI single and Gellings had a 2RBI double to lead Campbellsport.  Casey Bartelt was 2-3 with a walk for Springs, and Ian Stoffel added 2 hits.
