HS Sports Recap 5/24

Softball:

WLA 4 Springs 3

Neither team could score until the bottom of the fourth when Alea Anhalt doubled and later scored on an Abby Cole single.  WLA scored two more runs in the bottom of the fifth with Kiara Shea tripling and scoring on a single by Maddie Loehr.  Loehr then scored on another Anhalt double. The Ledgers scored a run in the sixth on four singles.  The Vikings scored what proved to be the winning run in the bottom of the sixth on a triple by Abby Cole and an RBI single by Natalee Boelk.  SMSA made it interesting in the top of the seventh by scoring two runs, with the key hit being a single to right by Ireland Stoffel that went all the way to the fence.  But that was all, and Natalee Boelk came away with the victory, pitching for the Vikings.  For the Vikings, Shea, Anhalt, and Cole were all 2×3, and Boelk was 2×2.  Stoffel was 2×4  with two RBIs for the Ledgers.  WLA moves on to play New Holstein in their next regional game.

Kiel 5 Sturgeon Bay 0

Coach Pritchard: “Legendary team in Kiel Girls High School soccer history going 16-0-2.  No losses the entire year and now a desire to reach our ultimate goal that is within our grasp–very proud of OUR TEAMS accomplishment and looking forward to bigger accomplishments. Sturgeon Bay’s Goalie was the best goalie we played against in the EWC.  She made amazing saves against our attack but eventually Taylor Schad scored four and Lydia Vander Meer tallied another.  Our defense and goalie–Bryannah Remy held another shutout tonight.”
