Had great ideas up top, but just couldn’t connect on anything to put the ball in the back of the net. We are progressing in games on what we are working on in practice. Back to Brookfield East tomorrow to face Sussex Hamilton.”

Coach Haag: “This was a hard fought game against a tough Luther Prep squad. Ava was fighting through some pain in the second half and still managed to get the equalizer and the late game-winner. She has been a dynamic scorer for us all year long and she came through again today.”

Coach Stuebs: “CWC dominated a majority of the game, keeping the ball on their attacking half. They got their first goal from # 10, Shelby Buwalda. The goal was assisted by #4 Tabitha Buwalda. This goal came in the 31st minute. The half ended with the score of CWC-1, Portage/Poynette-0. The second goal of the game in the 67 minute, #15 Olivia Ruis scored. This goal was unassisted. Portage/Poynette came back with their own goal in the 69:00 to make the game 2-1 CWC. CWC came right back with a goal from Shelby Buwalda in the 74:00 to make the game 3-1. Then in the 79th minute, Shelby Buwalda put in another goal, to complete her hatrick. This goal was assisted by #6, Avery Slings. Mary Doughty was in goal and had 4 saves.”

Nate Gindt, Karson Gindt, and Landon Behringer each had two hits. Behringer chipped in 3 RBI. Hayden Stettbacher got the win giving up only 3 hits.

Kiara Shea scored both runs for WLA, while Alea Anhalt doubled and Amber Johnson tripled as part of the Vikings’ six hits. Luther Prep scored four runs on nine hits, with two hits and two RBIs each from Mandy Eckl and Ana Alexandrowicz. Eckl doubled and tripled while scoring two runs. Lindsey Nell took the loss for the Vikings, giving up four runs on nine hits and four walks. Mady Eckl threw seven innings, giving up two runs on six hits and seven walks, while striking out four.
