HS Wrestling Results Roundup – 2/4/18

Conference Wrestling Tournaments were held around the area on Saturday, February 3rd. Here are results from area schools:


In the FVA, Fond du Lac finished in 8th place at the conference meet with 60.5 team points. Fondy’s Isaac Ortegon placed second at 132 pounds, losing 12-0 to Brandon Micksh of Kaukauna by a 9-3 decision in the championship match. Logan Naker placed 4th at 145 and Austin Baatz 4th at 182 pounds for the Cardinals. Kaukauna won the FVA meet with 247.5 points, Neenah was second (183) and Appleton North third (164).

In the Flyway, Lomira won the tournament championship with 219.5 team points, with North Fond du Lac/St. Mary’s Springs placing second with 214 points. Laconia was third (164), Omro fourth (114), Mayville fifth (100), Winnebago Lutheran sixth (91) and St. Lawrence Seminary seventh (89)

For Lomira: Antonio Lopez – 113 pounds, Caleb Andes – 120 pounds and John Stucke – 132 pounds were all first-place finishers. Alex Gundrum – 126 pounds, Noah Danner – 138 pounds and Matt Hanke – 195 pounds were all second place finishers.

For NFDL/SMS – Abe Giebel – 126 pounds, Andrew Forsythe – 152 pounds Dalton Fritch – 160 pounds and Marcus Orlandoni – 195 pounds were all first-place finishers. Josh Brunette – 113 pounds, Joey Krizenesky – 120 pounds, Lane Fritch – 182 pounds and Dakota Maas at 220 pounds were all second place finishers.

For Winnebago Lutheran – Ryan Jacobs placed second at 285 pounds. Josh Huey – 152 pounds and Grant Manke – 220 pounds were both third place finishers for the Vikings.

For Laconia – Bryce Engelhardt – 138 pounds and Zach Foth – 145 pounds were both first-place finishers, while Tyler Lovejoy – 152 pounds and Treven Henker – 160 pounds were both second place finishers.

For Mayville – Jackson Schlender – 132 pounds, Justin Schlender – 145 pounds and Montana Bingen – 170 pounds were all second place finishers.

For St. Lawrence Seminary – Kelly Paulsen took first place at 285 pounds, while Daniel Trinh at 106 pounds took second place.

In the East Central Conference, Campbellsport won the tournament championship with 229 team points, Kewaskum was second (225 points) and Ripon third (196.5). Waupun placed seventh with 32 points.

For Campbellsport – Cade Heisdorf – 126 pounds, Joe Lindsley – 170 pounds, and Matt Koelbel – 182 pounds were all first place finishers. Roman Skorupa – 106 pounds, Dylan Bublitz – 113 pounds, Derek Bublitz – 120 pounds, Logan Kreuser – 132 pounds and Taylor Heltemes – 138 pounds were all second place finishers.

For Ripon – Brady Kissinger – 160 pounds, Tucker Bender – 220 pounds and Keegan Nordvold – 285 pounds were all first place finishers. Ethan Kovalaske – 126 pounds, Ryan Cody – 145 pounds and Austin Lammers – 195 pounds were all second place finishers.

For Waupun – Trevin Roecker was the Warriors’ highest finisher, placing 4th at 120 pounds.

In the Trailways Conference – Oakfield placed seventh at the conference meet, scoring 88.5 team points. Brock Boelk – 113 pounds and James Kottke – 182 pounds were second place finishers for the Oaks.

In the Eastern Wisconsin Conference – Chilton/Hilbert placed 4th with 184 team points, Kiel fifth (146) and New Holstein seventh (101).
