Hunter Gets Lost In Eldorado Marsh

A Fond du Lac male became lost while hunting Sunday afternoon in the Eldorado Marsh.

The man called Sunday November 7, 2021 at approximately 5:42 PM, to the Fond du Lac County Communication Center, to report he was in the marsh but was lost. The man stated he had parked off of Rose-Eld Rd. near the walking/snow mobile trail, and then walked about 1000 yards into the marsh, following a tractor path from the parking lot into the marsh.

The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office along with Eldorado Fire and Lamartine Fire responded to the scene. The Communications Center was able to stay on the line with the individual, GPS coordinates were provided of the man’s location, and the Sheriff’s Office deployed their drone team to locate the man.

The drone operator was able to locate the man utilizing the drone, at which point deputies were able to instruct the man over the phone to follow the drone.

The lost hunter followed the drone out of the marsh to the firefighters that were waiting with their UTV to bring the man to safety. There were no injuries reported, and it was determined that the man got lost while hunting.
