Hurricane Donation Drive Starts Today In FDL

During the next four days Fond du Lac area residents will have an opportunity to donate non-perishable food and personal hygiene items for hurricane victims. An Osborn and Son Trucking semi will be parked in the parking lot at Fives Giddings & Lewis off West Johnson Street. Fives is teaming up with the Salvation Army. Like a similar effort during Hurricane Katrina 12 years ago the idea for the collection was suggested by Gary Sternhagen of G & L. He says they started that drive because they didn’t have the proper training to help the Red Cross. Salvation Army Captain Steve Wilson says it is a great way for area residents to do their part to help out hurricane victims. Keep in mind that donated items will be distributed to hurricane victims who don’t have places to store stuff. You can also write a check to the Salvation Army. Simply write on the memo line Hurricane 2017 Disaster Relief. Collection hours at the G & L parking lot are from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and tomorrow and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. For a list of items needed go to the Salvation Army Facebook page
