Ice Shoves Cause Problems For FDL Yacht Club

High winds and thawing caused problems with ice shoves on Lake Winnebago this weekend. A snow storm accompanied by high winds Thursday and Friday broke up the sheets of ice on the Lake and pushed it up on areas of shore. The Fond du Lac Yacht Club Saturday morning posted photos of the ice pushed up and around their building, closing until heavy equipment could be brought in to remove the ice. DNR Sturgeon Biologist Ryan Koenigs also commented on the ice shoves in his sturgeon report for Friday. Ice conditions on the Lake put an early end to the sturgeon spearing season with one fish taken each day this past Tuesday and Wednesday and none after that.(FDL Yacht Club photo above).
