Independent Investigation Into Blimp Crash At US Open

Federal officials may have come up with the cause of the advertising blimp crash near the US Open at Erin Hills, but the company that owns the airship is continuing its own investigation. They are exploring whether a man shot at the blimp because it scared his cows. The CEO of AirSign says the panel collapse that has been pointed to as the cause of the crash is “unheard of.” Washington County Sheriff’s deputies spoke to the farmer last week who complained about the blimp. They determined he had no involvement in the crash.  The National Transportation Safety Board released its preliminary report on the crash Monday, citing a tear in the outer fabric as the trigger for the incident.
