Infrastructure Bill Should Help With Lead Pipe Removal In WI

The federal infrastructure bill should help Wisconsin municipalities to get the lead out.

The bill signed this week by President Joe Biden includes 15 billion dollars to replace lead service pipes.

Wisconsin has an estimated 176-thousand such pipes, which are mainly found in neighborhoods with housing built prior to 1950.

While it’s not clear how much of the lead pipe remediation money will come to Wisconsin, the state is expected to receive 841 million to address water infrastructure overall during the next five years.
